New Company DATE for Spring

Dear Timothy and Alpha/Omega dancers and families, Board members, and SOF Staff,



After much research and discussion, we have decided to move the Company performance which includes all Timothy and A/O dancers to a separate day from the studio Spring Concert. This is for many reasons.



First, the Grand has instituted a new policy allowing only two shows in a day. We have always had three shows, and were already anticipating going to Friday for a fourth show. With May 12 being Mother's Day weekend, we could NOT go to Sunday. : ) (as I am sure you moms will agree).



We have also, dispite the economy, GROWN in number of students in the studio. We anticipate (and pray) this will continue into the Spring. So we needed MORE time for shows, not less. Fitting all the company and studio students into ONE week for dress rehearsals was getting near impossible.



Thirdly, we also wanted to make the shows SHORTER. Two hours and longer was simply too long. Long spring concerts has been a growing complaint. My desire was to have a full company show (with a strong theme and story line), a Timothy show featuring our Timothy levels, and a bunch of mini one-hour shows for our little ones and noncompany classes.



SOOOOOO.......



After researching the area, and doing site visits, we have decided the the Timothy dancers and the Alpha and Omega dancers will have their shows on SATURDAY, APRIL 28, 2012 at the GRAND Theatre. There will be two shows that day. Timothy will dance in the early afternoon only. A/O will dance some in the afternoon show, and do their entire repretoire in the late afternoon show. Tech week will be April 24-27 (Tu-F). (I know my older girls will love it is NOT near finals or end of the year band/chorus stuff). We will be inviting the public and all the studio students to attend these shows. UPDATE: Shows will be at 1pm and 4pm that day.



The STUDIO SPRING SHOW featuring the students of the studio will be on SATURDAY MAY 12th (as originally posted) at the CARTER HALL of the CLARENCE BROWN CONVENTION CENTER (a new venue for us-it is beautiful by the way). All the Timothy and A/O girls WILL be appearing in these shows, but only briefly, and perhaps only once (Timothy). So on that note, you WILL have classes in May as well, however, tech rehearsal will be greatly reduced this late in the year.



We will be announcing this to the studio as a whole shortly, but I wanted to make sure you have APRIL 28 and MAY 12 on your calendar NOW! There is a lot to this transition, and change can be hard. But in this case, Ms. Tonya, Ms. Theresa and I are VERY EXCITED about this opportunity!!! I will have more details later this year.
